Today was a great day!  Sam was fortunate enough to bless our little Benji (7 weeks).

Benji

The hospital had an auditorium where they hold LDS church services.  After the blessing, Sam shared the following thoughts:

I’m sure that everyone is anxious to go so I won’t take up too much of your time.  I want to bear my testimony today that I am grateful for the opportunity I had to bless my son.  I know it is different for everyone to see me like this and especially to think about everything I have lost, but I am grateful for the experiences I’ve had.  My testimony for my Savior, Jesus Christ, has grown.  I know that he lives and I know that he has a plan for me.  He is showing me more of that plan. The mortal body is just the mortal body and through righteous choices and my eternal family, my body can be restored to perfection.  I am grateful for the amazing outpouring of love that has been shown to my family and I.  I know more than anything, my Savior. Through the atonement He knows what I feel and what we all feel.  He allows these things to happen so he can be here for us and show us how much he loves us.  I am so grateful for that and this gospel.  My wife is amazing.  I know Jesus Christ lives and I know Jospeh Smith was a true prophet of this church.  I know these things through the depth of my very soul.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Sam & Ashley,

These pictures are beautiful. What an adorable baby you have! God has indeed blessed you with a bright and special little boy. The pictures are wonderful, we love them, especially that picture of the baby with Ashly leaning over your hospital bed, and Benjamin holding his little hands & smiling oh so precious. He seems so excited & happy--perhaps to have his time on the earth now. I bet your parents are very happy about this little grand baby. Sam, thank you for your testimony! It is very inspiring and special; words cannot express how uplifting and soothing to the soul it is. We would like to say something to inspire & cheer you up, but instead, you have inspired and cheered us, showing forth faith, a wonderful attitude in the midst of trial, and what an example you are. The way Ashley is handling things is amazing, wonderful & encouraging as well. Thank you for this encouragement. Congratulations on your baby boy !
Best Wishes, love

Hello Sam and Ashley. I miss and love you both and hope to get the chance to meet Benji soon. We are working out plans to come visit you, but so far haven't managed a complete plan. It's a little harder to do with the kids and Gene's new job. He got promoted recently, by the way. He got a nice raise and will likely be named Senior Developer soon. Genevieve is transferring to a new school where she can receive better services for her Aspbergers Disorder, and Nathanael will be going to the same school for Kindergarten. Their Autism specialists there are some of the best in the state of Minnesota. We have been very blessed to be brought here. I have tried to call, so has Stan (he sent me an email asking how he could get a hold of you; I told him about the website), but I have been unable to get through. You just have so many people who love and respect and admire you, and they all want to be there for you now. Sam, Ashley, whatever happens and however things pan out, I hope you know you are in my prayers and my heart goes out to you always. I would be there now if circumstances would allow for it. Take care, and remember that I love you. GV, Jesse, Thias and Seth say hello and they think their new cousin is adorable. Gene says to wish you the best and when you get the chance, check out what he's done to Sunbeamers.com lately.

Love Always,

Annie

Sam,

What a great baby! It is such a miracle to see these little ones come into the world. I experienced that along with my wife a week after you and Ashley with our first as well. I have no doubt that you will be up and about chasing Benji all over the house. I'd love to drop on by soon and bring you a sack full of warm double-dels! You're right it is the best burger of any fast food joint. Good to hear of your progress and it will continue.
Benjamin is a lucky baby!

Ashley and Sam - You look like a movie star family! Banjamin is one lucky baby to have such attractive, strong, spiritual parents! Your eyes are truly filled with the spirit! Sam, your testimony at the Blessing was inspiring, and will give direction to Benjamin all his life. Often our children hear our testimonies, but it will be a blessing to him, as he grows up, to have his father's testimony written down to read in times of need. We're so happy that little Benjamin has been entrusted to you for the sojourn of his life here on earth, and to have into the eternities. We love you and will continue to keep you in our prayers.

Sam and Ashley,
Just heard about things today. I wish you both well and pray for a speedy recovery for you. Thank you for your testimony. You do look like a movie star family. Ashley is not only beautiful but sweet too. Here at TNA when I met her I asked if I could call her Leslie because she looks like Leslie Ann Warren (She's the movie star that did the first "Cinderella" back in the 70's) Thank you for sharing this with us all. We see your strength and determination and you will do well. Thank you for what you have brought into my life, your kindness and love. Thank you and God Bless you all.

Dear Sam and Ashley,
We have tried to keep up with all that is going on out there with you. Fortunately, each time we check, we feel amazement at your progress. You are all working sooo hard! You all look wonderful and I see that Benji has Sam's eyes which may be the bluest eyes that I have ever seen. Congratulations on Benji's blessing. Blair and Holly told us that it was AMAZING. You continue to inspire us! Thank you for teaching us by showing gratitude for the blessings that you enjoy rather than focussing on the trials you have met. It seems that heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are using you to strengthen the testimonies of all who know or read about your family. It is clear to others just by hearing your story, that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love and watch over their children. We continue to pray for your family and are grateful for your strength. Our testimonies of faith have grown because of your examples.
